Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is hard to believe that we are already nearly at the end of the term. I would like to thank all families for a positive start to the year. This week has been mixed with both difficult times and exciting ones. We would like to thank all our families for their patience and understanding with the strike action that took place this week. We understand how disruptive this is to families and appreciate that everyone was able to send students to school a bit later on Wednesday. Thank you!
This week we held our annual parent/teachers meetings. I would like to thank families for supporting us with the new booking system. It proved to be highly successful and reasonably easy to navigate. We are hoping to use ‘Schoolzine’ more regularly in the future as a way of passing on information without the endless paper trail. Watch this space as we will provide more information about this in upcoming newsletters.
On Thursday, Punchbowl sent a representative team to the LSSSA inter school athletics carnival. I would like to thank Mrs Dean, Mr Augostin, Mr Donati and Mrs Weldon for their attendance at the carnival and helping our students on the day. Congratulations to all students for not only their exceptional behaviour but also their results in individual and team events.
The last day for students this term will be Thursday, 11th April. On the Friday 12th, all teachers are involved in Moderation Day. Punchbowl teachers will be meeting with teachers from the other Queechy Alliance schools; St Leonards, Ravenswood, Waverley, East Launceston, Norwood Primary and Queechy High School at Norwood Primary to moderate student work samples around reading.
Easter Raffle
The raffle will be drawn on Thursday, 11th April, congratulations in advance to the winners of the individual class baskets. The students have done a wonderful job in organising this great fundraiser for our school. Thank you for supporting this.
Anzac Day – 25th April (during the school holidays)
Once again as mentioned in previous correspondence, Punchbowl Primary will be marching in the ANZAC Day parade. Mrs Dean, Mrs Dunn and I have once again volunteered to walk with our students from Prince’s Square to the Cenotaph. Students from our Student Leadership Board will remain for the service and laying of the wreath on behalf of our school. All students intending to march with our school will need to wear full school uniform.
I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy term break. I hope all families and staff have a lovely Easter and we look forward to welcoming students back to school on Monday, 29th April.

It was our pleasure to welcome Daniel Geale, our own home grown World Champion Boxer to Queechy High School to spend some quality time with our students reiterating why he is a Champion. Daniel shared with us his determination and drive to succeed and how he embraced many facets of self discipline to achieve his goals and aspirations, including maintaining his school regime as an equal priority in achieving World Champion status.
We were all captivated and inspired by Daniel’s open and candid comments in a relaxing chat session, enjoying the humour and honesty surrounding the motivational messages. Daniel’s coach, Mr. Graeme George was on hand to provide anecdotes from a different perspective and very happy to verify that our own Kiara displays great potential and definitive style in her training sessions.
